Have you ever felt like a “stress head“, suffering from debilitating anxiety attacks and not coping with life and your choices. And at times, been your own worst enemy, an extreme perfectionist and often quite critical of yourself?
Well… this was me back a few years ago. Then I found Tai-Chi & QiGong, an AMAZING natural alternative, that helped me to bring balance back into my life. The same can happen to you! Discover how below.
A little bit of background. The word Qigong divides into Qi and Gong: Qi = vitality, energy, life force; Gong = practice, cultivate, refine; Qigong = to cultivate and refine through practice one’s vitality or life force. Pronounced CHEE GUNG.
Both, Tai-Chi (supreme ultimate) and QiGong (energy work) share the same philosophical basis, however their origins and execution are different.
QiGong, the art of cultivating energy, has a history of 2,500 years in China and includes thousands of variations of postures. Tai-Chi is said to date back to the 13th century and created by Zhan Sanfeng a Taoist monk whilst studying at the Shaolin Temple. It was first developed as a martial art in the 17th century when Chen Wangting created the Chen style. Later, a student of Chen style, Yang Luchan (1795-1872), developed the Yang style.
According to the Chinese philosophy of Taoism, everything is composed of two opposites but complimentary elements of yin and yang, working in relationship, which is in perpetual balance. Yin and Yang are polar opposites and are found in all living things.
Yin represents the soft feminie concepts, while yang represents the hard masculine concepts. Both compliment each other completely and together form a perfect whole. When we are perfectly balanced and in harmony we experience inner peace. Practicing Tai-Chi and Qigong creates this perfect balance through movement combined with breath.
MY EXPERIENCE
Learning Tai Chi and Qigong has been life changing for me. From the very first time I engaged in the practice I felt something special, something unique to anything I had ever participated in before. It moved me.
I have been in the fitness/wellness industry since I was fifteen I am now forty-five. Until recently it was all about fitness, fun, adrenalin, sweat, going hard and looking my best. During the last five years while learning Tai-Chi/Qigong and meditation, my life has taken a gradual turn. It is now all about being grounded, cultivating energy, being in control, having clarity, focus and inner peace.
Knowing the meaning of … “being present” has also had a profound impact on my life. By practicing being present I no longer suffer from anxiety and over thinking. I always find a way to move forward with courage, strength and inner peace.
I believe life really begins when we are aware of who we are, when we take responsibility and action our dreams and desires.

Straighten your spine, imagine you have a string attached to the top of your head and the string is gently lifting you while your feet are firmly on the ground. Relax your chest, shoulders, face and jaw. Look straight ahead and breathe in through your nose and out through your nose.
Do this a few times to settle and relax take as many breaths as you like. Place your hands in front of you like you are holding a large beach ball. Circle your hands around the outside of the ball until you reach the top of your forehead, then press your hands downwards back to where you started from.
Repeat as many times as you like filling up with full breath on the way around then exhaling when pushing you’re hands down. Creating balance, yin and yang, with movement and breath.
To be connected with yourself and nature allows more freedom within you. You become more accepting of yourself and learn to listen to your inner voice. This is such a gift to you. Enjoy the journey.
TAI-CHI FOR KIDS
CLIENTS’ FEEDBACK
I suffered from lower back aches for years, and then I heard about Rachel Dickeys’ Tai Chi classes…sceptical I went along for one class. That was two years ago and I went back multiple times a week. After one class my back felt better than it had in months and I stopped going to the osteopath after a few months. Through the classes Rach taught me how to strengthen the muscles along my spine and free up my joints. Rach is an amazing instructor and I highly recommend to everyone of all ages to get on board with her Tai Chi classes, you’ll not only feel better physically but mentally too. I haven’t looked back and neither will you. – Client A
I have been attending Love your Life Tai Chi classes since May last year (2016) and all I can say is I am so glad I did! Rachel is so in tune with this practice and is always fully present herself which is wonderful as she is more than an instructor she is also getting benefit from her own teachings. We, as a group, just gel perfectly and end up coming away with a lovely calmness yet balanced with high energy. Hard to explain but there IS an energy force you do feel in class and afterwards. It is like resetting. I would recommend anyone young or old to come try. You will be pleasantly surprised. – Client B
Being part of Rachel’s Tai Chi class has without doubt given me the ability to feel and use my body’s energy to heal and energise. I have learnt how to meditate and be mindful and present to make the most of every moment. Tai Chi gives you a great work out on your core and balance. I love classes with Rachel as I get so much out of the friendships I have made and the support we give each other. Can’t recommend it enough. – Client C
