Did you know in order to achieve GENUINE HEALTH and WELL-BEING there are three aspects that need to be in balance and harmony?

 

We are three dimensional beings. YES… We are MINDBODY and SPIRIT. And when you have these three aspects balanced you are in a better position to cope with your life and choices. By using your own innate wisdom a Kinesiologist can determine what it is you specifically require in order to achieve such balance and harmony.

 

MY EXPERIENCE

A few years ago I was a prime example of someone who was out of balance and not listening to their own innate wisdom. I was stressed, working at all hours, not sleeping properly and waking up with a sense of dread. Whilst the message was clear that I needed to make changes, I didn’t and ended up with no choice but to leave my corporate management role.

 

I lacked self confidence, self worth, self love and self respect.  I questioned myself, failed to speak up and doubted myself.

 

Being quite burnt out, I decided to take a break from corporate and work part time as well as study. I wasn’t exactly sure what I wanted to study, so when someone casually commented “I notice you do Kinesiology”. My response was “Actually I don’t, however I will be.” In that moment I just knew Kinesiology was what I needed, and wanted to study. On day one of the course I had no idea what Kinesiology was and I’m pleased to say I haven’t looked back!

 

What drew me to Kinesiology is that it is one of the more grounded energy modalities. With a foundation in both Western and Eastern philosophies it is also one of the truly holistic ones. Most modalities/therapies seemingly only work on one or at best two dimensions. For example talk therapies are usually interact with the mind, however don’t engage the body and spirit. Reiki works with body and spirit yet not mind. Whereas Kinesiology is interacting with all three during a session.

 

Whilst Kinesiology is increasingly becoming better known and more popular it isn’t a new concept. In fact muscle testing (one of the main tools a kinesiologist uses) was discovered in the early 1900’s. Subsequently with each decade, particularly in the 1970’s and 1980’s, it has been developed into the modality we now know it to be.

 

SO, WHAT EXACTLY IS KINESIOLOGY?

The Australian Kinesiology Association definition is: “Kinesiology encompasses holistic health disciplines which use the gentle art of muscle monitoring to access information about a person’s well being. Originating in the 1970’s, it combines Western techniques and Eastern wisdom to promote physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health. Kinesiology identifies the elements which inhibit the body’s natural internal energies and accessing the life enhancing potential within the individual.“

Using the client’s muscles, kinesiologists are able to obtain information from your body; information which indicates where a stress or block could be as well as the possibly origin of such stress. The body also indicates what technique, referred to as a correction, is require to bring it back into alignment and balance. Thus addressing the identified stress or blockages and re-connecting you with your innate healing mechanism.

These corrections are mix of tried and proven energy based techniques and may include:

• Gently holding or massage acupressure points
• Tracing one or several meridian pathway/s
• Use of Resonate or other Essences
• Hydration techniques
• Clearing of sabotage patterns
• Chakra balancing
• Energy and colour work
• Visualisation and meditative work
• Challenging perceptions and beliefs

YOU CAN TRY THIS RIGHT NOW FOR YOURSELF

A simple kinesiology tool to help release stress and/or negative emotions are the Emotional Stress Release (ESR) points. These are points which most people naturally hold when they are feeling stress. However, by using them mindfully it can aid to release the emotion or stress at a deeper level. These points have a calming effect which helps you to bring your thinking back into your frontal lobe where you can access your “higher thinking” rather than your back “reptilian” brain where your fight, flight, freeze response is.

 

The ESR points are found above the centre of your eyes in the middle of your forehead, on your frontal prominences. Please see figure on your left.

 

You can engage these by lightly holding the points or by placing your hand across your forehead for 30secs to a minute or until you feel  calmer. Please see figure on your right.
