HAPPY NEW YEAR***This Year, Love YOURSELF More!

The end of the year is always the time for RESOLUTIONS; (re)define goals, plans, and create new habits. To help this process and make the next year better than the previous one, I am sharing with you simple but effective habits to add into your daily routine. It will definitely make a difference in your life.

After reading through quite a few authors and influencers about this topic, I realised they all have some in common. I personally added to the list two more habits that I also found relevant to this purpose. Below, are listed nine elementary habits that you should practice every day. Habits to develop that will empower you into achieving even greater success in 2017.

9 ELEMENTARY HABITS TO EMPOWER YOURSELF

1 – Do the hard stuff first
Start the day by doing the hard things on your to-do list first. Things that you don’t want to do but need to be done. Write that unpleasant email or make that difficult phone call in the morning before the day gets started.

Work on that project in the early hours. You’ll find you’ll become way more efficient if you don’t walk around all day with a big cloud hanging over your head of what you “have to do.” The feeling of accomplishment will help you keep motivated throughout the day.

2 – Take care of your body
Exercise is an extremely important habit to develop, for both your physical and mental health. Many successful entrepreneurs, despite lamenting how little time they have during the day, still find time to hit the gym or run a few laps around the track.

Working out helps you burn off emotional energy and refocuses your brain. For example, I used cycling to go to work, only 4km’s each way, but still, I felt the results: more energy and mental clarity.

3 – Get sleep
Getting a great night’s sleep does wonders for you the next day. Entrepreneurs tend to sleep very little, and they don’t always sleep well, but that’s not to say it’s unimportant. Try to get 7 hours of sleep a night. Light a candle, get into your fuzzy pyjamas, and try to find a routine that will make you snooze.

4 – Be grateful
When the going gets tough, don’t get mad—get grateful. It seems simple, but exercising gratitude everyday will make you infinitely more successful. Some career coaches suggest making a list of things you’re grateful for, such as the freedom to start your own business or the support of your family.

Others recommend simply taking a moment to recognize how lucky you are. Acknowledging that fact on a regular basis will improve your life immeasurably.

5 – Work really hard…and then break for some fun and celebration
There are days when you’ll be working incredibly hard, but let’s stop with the myth that only entrepreneurs who work all the time will succeed. If anything, they’ll fail.

Even the hardest-working people in the world know how to break for fun. Being able to turn your work off to recharge your batteries is critical to your success. Also, always celebrate your achievements, even the smallest ones.

6 – Forgive yourself
You screwed up a pitch? So what. You got into a fight with a coworker? That happens. The only thing that’s guaranteed in the next year is that you will make plenty of mistakes. Forgive yourself, and mean it. Then, move on.

7 – Do things for others while expecting nothing in return
It’s amazing how much helping someone—it doesn’t matter who or what, or how big or small—will improve your outlook in life. Helping someone is empowering. Helping someone without expecting anything in return is freeing. Don’t keep score. The universe works in mysterious ways—you’ll get your rewards soon enough.

8 – Meditate
Many successful people start their day mediating. I found it invigorating! Nowadays, you can find many different techniques; you just need to find one that resonates with you. I personally love Sonia Ricotti’s morning and night mediation. For more information click here.

9 – Write down your intentions
Intentions allow you to be in alignment with your purpose. The key with intentions is to focus on what you want, as opposed to what you don’t want. Use strong positive words. Write your intentions as though you already have what you want. Be positive in your attitude.

But, most importantly, WRITE IT DOWN! Writing down and reading it every day, is a reminder of what you intend for your life, making you more focused and inspired to take action.

NOW, if you have been trying hard and still don’t see any results, maybe you have limiting beliefs that are blocking you. Click here to learn how to uncover them.
